Local Sources:

Since I'm from Atlanta, I also look at a lot of local sources to learn more about the issues surrounding my region.

For example, I'm subscribed to Global Atlanta's newsletter. They publish news on the Atlanta region, with a plethora of topics: business, culture, diplomacy, economic development, education, and trade. The best part is that you can customize your emailed newsletters so it only show you what you are interested in.

The World Affairs Council of Atlanta's website is also a really good resource.

Looking at international news is important, but you should also be aware of what's going on in your local community. You can find a lot of newsletters, programs, and websites pertaining to your local news with just a simple Google search.
